Finding Strength in Love: Nikitha’s Journey to Happiness

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

At 21, Nikitha found herself in an arranged marriage, but the experience was far from what she had hoped for. She faced constant taunts about her skin color and was unfairly fat-shamed. Within a year, the pressure to have a baby became unbearable, and the verbal and mental abuse took its toll. That’s when Nikitha decided she couldn’t take it anymore and walked out.

In 2014, Nikitha gave birth to Riya, her daughter.

Despite her love for Riya, Nikitha struggled with feelings of inadequacy as a mother. Luckily, her parents stepped in to support her through the tough times, but Nikitha still felt like a burden to them. Depression hit hard, but Riya’s presence was a beacon of hope that empowered Nikitha to take control of her life.

In 2017, Nikitha decided to pursue a divorce. Her parents encouraged her to continue her education, so she headed off to the United Kingdom for her master’s degree. Being away from Riya was incredibly tough, and there were many tearful nights, but Nikitha found strength in her studies and in supporting her family from afar.

During her time in the UK, Nikitha reconnected with Bharat, a childhood friend. They hit it off and fell deeply in love over six years. Bharat became not just Nikitha’s partner but also Riya’s best friend, sharing bike rides, movie nights, and pet-raising duties.

Last year, Nikitha and Bharat finally tied the knot, solidifying their bond as a family. Today, they’re a happy trio, where Nikitha has finally found her place of belonging and contentment.
